WASHINGTON COUNTY ELECTION HEADQUARTERS
2022 GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARY ELECTION
Political district boundaries have changed! These boundaries are adjusted every ten years, based on how the population changes. The new boundaries help to make sure that the people in each district are equally represented. These changes may affect your districts, election day polling place, and elected officials. Click on the interactive Election Districts and Precincts map below to find out what legislative district you are in and who your elected officials are. You can also see where your Election Day precinct is.
Maryland has a closed primary, which means that members of a political party may only vote the ballot created for their party. In this Primary Election, there is only a Democratic ballot and a Republican ballot. For you 23,000+ Washington County voters not registered with either the Democratic or Republican parties, you can change your party affiliation anytime until 5:00PM, June 28, 2022 for in-person applications, or you have until 11:59PM, June 28, 2022 if you change your affiliation online. Click on VOTER REGISTRATION to change your party affiliation.
In Person Voting
We are back to our 49 Precinct Polling Places in 2022! This means that if you vote on Election Day, you must go to your assigned polling place to vote a regular ballot. If you go to any other polling place on Election Day, you will be required to vote a provisional ballot. Go to Voter Services, type in your name, date of birth and zip code, and click on the "Voting Center Information" to see what your assigned polling place is. You will also see other important information related to you on Voter Services.
We now have two Early Voting Centers in Washington County! They are:
Washington County Board of Elections
Early Voting Center #1
17718 Virginia Avenue
Hagerstown, MD 21740
Washington County Free Library
Early Voting Center #2
100 S. Potomac Street
Hagerstown, MD 21740
Instead of having only one day to vote, you can choose to vote on any one of eight days. Washington County Early Voting Centers will be open 7am to 8pm, Thursday, July 7 -Thursday, July 14, 2022.
Voting is convenient, accessible and on your schedule.
